SCHOOL DAY OF NON-VIOLENCE AND PEACE

You may have already seen the lovely displays that Nursery and Primary students have prepared for this celebration. Two students of 3ºESO, Ana and Lucía, have prepared a slideshow with ten quotes to remember the importance of peace. We hope you like them!

International Holocaust Remembrance Day

Last Tuesday, 27th January, was the International Holocaust and Remembrance Day. It was set on this date because on 27 January 1945, Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi death camp, was liberated by the Soviet troops during World War II.

I HAVE A DREAM

“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the colour of their skin but by the content of their character.”
Do you recognise these words? They were pronounced by a very special man who was the leader of the civil rights movement in the United States of America. His dream was that black people and white people would live together in peace. He was assassinated in 1968.
He was so special that the third Monday of January is dedicated to him the USA. Do you know his name?
If you want to check if you're right or know more about him and practise your listening skills, click on the image below and watch the video below to answer the questions on the right.
Good luck!

I'm feeling blue

How did you feel today? Tired, sad, grumpier than usual?  You're probably not alone, as experts reckon today is one of the saddest days of the year.
Researchers say the third Monday in January is when people are more unhappy than at any other time in the year.
A mathematician said the date was devised to help a travel company to "analyze when people book holidays and holiday trends"and used many factors, including: weather conditions, debt level (the difference between debt accumulated and our ability to pay), time since Christmas, time since failing our new year’s resolutions, low motivational levels and feeling of a need to take action. One equation used by Arnall in 2006 was:

Tt = travel time; D = delays; C = time spent on cultural activities; R = time spent relaxing; ZZ = time spent sleeping; St = time spent in a state of stress; P = time spent packing; Pr = time spent in preparation.
It seems to us rather complicated and not true! Here you have a song by Michale Bublé entitled Dream when you're Feeling Blue to enjoy this Monday
