I have a dream

“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the colour of their skin but by the content of their character.”
Do you recognise these words? They were pronounced by a very special man who was the leader of the civil rights movement in the United States of America. His dream was that black people and white people would live together in peace. He was assassinated in 1968.
He was so special that the third Monday of January is dedicated to him the USA. Do you know his name?
If you want to know more about him and everything he achieved, watch the video below and answer the questions.

TRAVELLING NOTEBOOK: 3rd STOP

We were very happy to receive a new travelling notebook, a wonderful notebook, in its third stop after starting its journey in Lanzarote and stopping in Gran Canaria. In fact, we receive two notebooks! Fantastic!

We've made our contribution to both notebooks. We hope you like it! It's been hard work and good fun too!

HAVE YOU BEEN GOOD THIS CHRISTMAS?

Christmas is a time for meeting friends you haven't seen for a long time, for long chats and for eating.
Maybe you've heard your parents say something like "Did you notice how young she/he looks? I don't understand how she/he manages".
Well, Dan Buettner, author of The Blue Zones shares some advice about how to keep young and healthy with us. Why don't you tell your parents?

1) SLOW DOWN. Work less, rest and take vacations. Relaxation is key, take time to relieve stress. Don’t rush – plan on being 15 minutes early. Cut out noise and limit time spent with the television, computer, or radio on.

2) KEEP MOVING. Find ways to move more naturally such as walking, gardening, and using fewer labour-saving devices. Identify activities you enjoy and make them a regular part of your day.

3) FIND PURPOSE. And pursue it with passion. Write your own personal mission statement. Take up a new challenge like learning a language or an instrument.

4) STOP EATING WHEN YOU’RE 80% FULL. Reduce calorie consumption at dinner by 20-30%. Use smaller plates, bowls and glasses. Sit and eat your meals.

5) DINE ON PLANTS. Eat more veggies and less meat and processed foods. You don’t need to become a vegetarian, but increase your intake of fruits and veggies, beans, rice and tofu. Have a 2-oz handful of nuts daily.

6) JOIN A GROUP. Create a healthy social network. Identify your inner circle. Reconsider ties to people who bring you down.

7) FEED YOUR SOUL. Engage in spiritual activities. Deepen your existing spiritual commitment.

8) LOVE YOUR FAMILY. Make family a high priority. Establish family rituals like game night, family walks and Sunday dinners. Create a place for family pictures and souvenirs that show how you’re all connected.

9) DRINK WATER. Water is essential not only for rehydration but also forms the basis of good blood, dewy skin and healthy body tissues. Every cell in your body, as well as the space between cells, every tissue and every organ needs water.
